U&I Microfinance Bank is delighted to have opened a new branch in Ruiru, Kiambu county. This is major milestone and journey to the Bank’s vision to transform into a top-tier financial institution in the country. The licensed Microfinance Bank Institution provides working capital, facilitating technological improvements and business innovations to large enterprises and SME’s in the country.
Gracing the event, Mr. Muturi Kamande; the Chairman of U&I Microfinance Bank, mentioned that decision to open a new branch in the area was inspired by the goal to enable the communities access financial services in all sectors including agribusiness. The Bank’s CEO Mwangi Ngigi also said that “Despite investing heavily on digital transformation and alternative business channels, the need for physical presence is still important to our target clients mainly women and youth in the rural areas”.
Being a customer-centric Bank, it offers a wide range of loans and savings products targeting all segments of our economy and also keen on the social impact while ensuring its operations aligns with both financial and environmental strategy.
U&I Bank was pioneered in 2007 as a credit-only microfinance institution, in 2013 it was granted a license by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) to operate as a deposit taking microfinance institution. Later in 2017, the CBK granted the lender a national license hence transforming from a community microfinance to a nationwide microfinance.
The financial institution now prides itself of five branches with its headquarters in Nairobi CBD, while other outlets are situated in Nairobi, Gikomba, Thika, Matuu and Ruiru.
